Kansas City Police: Skeletal Remains Identified As Oklahoma Man

Posted on May 19, 2012.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City police have identified a skeleton found last month in a wooded backyard as a man from Oklahoma. Police say the skeleton was 43-year-old Terry Kirtley of Commerce, Oklahoma. Investigators have not determined how Kirtley died or if foul play was involved. Kirtley's skull was found August 28, 2010 in a yard in eastern Kansas City. A few days later, police found more bones in a wooded area about 50 yards away. Police say it's likely an animal dragged the skull away from the rest of the skeleton. Investigators say the bones had been in the area, which is a trash dumping ground, for six to 12 months.
