SAN ANTONIO -- On August 20, a worker found the body of a woman near Highway 281 and Bulverde Road. The woman had been shot three times and has yet to be positively identified.
Bexar County Investigators released photos of the woman's clothing and a sketch of her face. A friend recognized the woman as a someone who had been missing for at least a week.
Nidia Yanira Sanchez moved to San Antonio from El Salvador almost two years ago. She was about 32 years old.
Xenia Quevedo manages La Playa Restaurant at 3346 West Avenue, the place is one of several restaurants in the area raising funds to help the Sanchez family.
Friends said Sanchez left behind three children in El Salvador and came to America to work. Her youngest, a 6-year-old boy, recently had open heart surgery. So Sanchez would send money home as often as possible.
Bexar County detectives are in touch with the Salvadoran Embassy and are waiting on a positive fingerprint match to come through.
