DNA evidence may solve 1984 case of missing Daytona Beach teen

Posted on May 19, 2012.
ORLANDO -- A nearly 30-year-old mystery in Daytona Beach may finally be solved, thanks to new DNA evidence discovered by "Dr. G." Colleen Orsborn was 15 when she disappeared in March 1984 after skipping school. A few days later, a fisherman found a body near an Orange County lake. But nobody could make the connection, until Orange County medical examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia ordered new DNA tests. The results showed a match between Orsborn and the body, but Garavaglia said it was not enough to identify the body, and more tests are required. Daytona Beach police said they believe Orsborn was murdered by serial killer Christopher Wilder, who abducted and raped at least 10 female victims across the U.S. in early 1984, killing at least eight of them. Wilder was killed in a shootout with police in New Hampshire one month after Orsborn disappeared. http://www.cfnews13.com/article/news/2011/february/203861/DNA-evidence-may-solve-1984-case-of-missing-Daytona-Beach-teen
